There is no “one size fits all” solution when it comes to how much brine to apply. The main factors in determining how much to apply are pavement temperature and the projected forecast. You will need to adjust application rates based on these factors, just as you would with traditional rock salt.

Here are some good starting points:

For Anti-Icing(pretreat) – 25 gallons per lane mile

For De-Icing(post treat) – 40-50 gallons per lane mile

Note: 1 lane mile = 1.4 acres. If dealing with acres, the numbers become 35 gallons/acre for pretreating and 55-70 gallons/acre for post-treat
